STG 1928 3" Barrel Conversion
This setup is great for use with a suppressor to reduce the cycle rate and keep the overall length down.
Given the relatively low bolt mass for this setup, adding a suppressor increases blowback energy thereby increasing the cycle rate. Even with large 2-stage SMG suppressors like the Bowers Vers45 and Atlantic Coast Machine MIMS (approx 12" Long x 1.75" OD), the additional blowback energy is noticeable in the feel and speed of the gun. With a 3" barrel, the bullet 'uncorks’ quickly to reduce blowback energy on the bolt movement. This requires a weaker mainspring to operate the system. The mainspring used in this setup is our standard U9 mainspring.
Muzzle velocities is decreased by approximately 50FPS compared to the 10.5" barrel.
An offset hand guard resting bar is also required to accommodate the large OD (approx 1.75") of large 2-stage 45 SMG suppressors.
